New 1/1250 scale model of the American naval ferry Nihoa by Saratoga (SMY 89) as in 1941. Built by Pearl Harbor Navy Yard, wooden-hull ferry, other sources indicate steel-hull; laid down 26 April 1941, launched 25 July 1941. Placed in service 7 November 1941 as ferryboat YFB-17; ferry service between Naval Air Station Ford Island and Naval base Pearl Harbor. Present at Pearl Harbor  on 7 December 1941; one Battle Star. Displacement 288 tons; 145'6'' x 44' feet; ( 44 x 13.5 meter); Atlas Imperial diesel engine, 300 bhp. , speed unknown; complement 5; armament none. Out of service April 1961; struck from Naval Register date unknown, sold to private purchaser; final disposition unknown.
