Operation Iraqi Freedom and the ongoing war is examined here in terms of the impact of this war on the surviving soldiers, from loss of body parts to post-traumatic stress to "shaken-baby syndrome." The lyrics from the Civil War song as well as an earlier Irish ballad are included along with a web site address with the music so you can listen to it while reading the text. Images of surviving soldiers have been created in Photoshop by combining portions of my husband's army photographs with antique photographs of men from the Civil War era.
