It's a Man's World Scorpion Blues by Elsi Vassdal Ellis
I wanted to share the story beyond the four books produced in the cloth edition of It’s a Man’s World Scorpion Blues and so I elected to print a paper version of the text. The original text was inkjet printed on samples of men’s shirt fabrics purchased as Josephine’s Dry Goods in Portland. When I began my teaching career in the industrial arts, there were very few women in the profession. My base salary as an assistant professor was less than my male counterparts and although my salary has improved, the value of my retirement account reflects the “man’s world” traditions. This reality is revealed through the recollection of a childhood memory about my brother, a scorpion, and a conscious realization that our lives would be different because of gender.
