In the language of flowers zinnias are the symbol of absence. I love the sublime gaudiness of the zinnia and all of its composite parts. The alpha blox type can be used as letters, I have used it here as a design pattern. I am passionate about the activity of hand stitching and the contemplative space it creates. In many ways, the crafts of stitching, piecing and setting type are similar activities. Each stitch, each piece of lead join together to create a composite image.
