2022 Fattoria Le Pupille Morellino di Scansano, Tuscany, Italy

90% Sangiovese, 10% Ciliegiolo and Alicante Founded in 1985, family/woman owned and operated by Elisabetta Geppetti and her daughter Clara Gentili. Morellino di Scansano is a small sub-region within Maremma in Tuscany. For a long time there were no vineyards in the area, but cork oaks, wheat, and mediterranean woods. Maremma was not considered a territory with great viticultural potential and Morellino Di Scansano was making  a pleasant wine which surely did not aspire to compare itself with great Italian denominations. However, everything changed at Le Pupille thanks to the enthusiasm and intuition of Elisabetta Geppetti, a young student at the time, who had foreseen great productive potential in the countryside she loved, where she spent her summer holidays in her family’s house.
