Tempranillo, Garnacha, Bobal, Monastrell, Viura, Albillo and Malvasia Founded in 1903, Finca Torremilanos is the second oldest estate in Ribera del Duero behind only Vega Sicilia. Local legend Pilar Pérez Albéniz still runs the show here with her sons in charge of winemaking and sales. They produce a series of fantastic wines with biodynamic certification that we really love. ‘Ojo Gallo’, Castellano for ‘rooster eye’ (in other words, what the French call ‘oeil de perdrix’), hearkens back to the traditional clarete style of the region. This dark rosé (light red?) is a field blend of very old vines co-fermenteded in cement and raised for 8 months in used barrels before bottling without added sulfur for peak drinkability. Delicious!
