Easily one of the most iconic steam locomotives of all time, Henry Dreyfuss' styling for the 1938 20th Century Limited has endured for nearly a century as a pinnacle of industrial design. Only ten J3 Hudsons received this treatment and the shrouds lasted barely a decade, but their impact on popular culture remains. The Hudson is finally back in the Lionel catalog, with all new tooling which allows accurate looks for both as designed and modified versions. 5449 and 5452 will feature the full streamlining, with either Boxpok or Scullin disk drive wheels as appropriate. It didn't take long for some of the streamlining to be cut back, however. 5445 shows a little trimming in its 1939 "Mercury" dress.
