Sterling Silver Table or Vanity Mirror

Sterling Silver Table or Vanity Mirror, C 1900, Black Star & Frost A fine sterling dressing mirror by Black Star & Frost with heart shaped and beveled mirror. The silver surround of the mirror features birds, putti, scroll work, lattice work, and acanthus leaves. A large cartouche which has been engraved with initials adorns the top of the mirror. The mirror has a blue velvet blue back along with an easel. The front is lined in a light taupe fabric. The design, motifs, and work of the piece is very similar to dressing mirrors made by William Comyns & Sons of England during the same time period (C. 1900). The mirror has several dark spots which are often the case with antique mirrors. The blue velvet backing is tattered but still serviceable. The silver is in excellent condition considering the age.
