Marquita by African American artist Bai is a 15” x 11” portrait on etching paper rendered in red and contrasting colors with acrylic and oil pastels The subject, female, with her face framed by a tiara  of daisies. Marquita’s eyes are in the style of Paul Klee with the subject's daisy tiara, symbolizing innocence, strength, determination, and a warrior-like spirit.   Provenance: Studio of Bai In the artist's words: "Colour becomes symbols I use to reflect emotional stages that humans experience – reds for the violent past, blues, greens for the peace to come, and yellow and oranges for the bright future ahead.
