Ametrine crystals are made of alternating sections of purple and citrine color. It is a coming misunderstanding that the yellow/orange sections are citrine. They are instead colored by iron inclusions. Natural ametrine is rare, much ametrine on the market has been hydrothermally synthesized in Russian laboratories.
