This might be my mama’s favorite. Yes, the quote was quite familiar in our house, but more-so because my mom loves coconut and the mahogany is sure to add a pleasant kick. “I’m not one of your little friends. TRY ME!” still sends shivers down my back. Those words usually came after something sassy that I or my siblings said under our breath. Though I knew I was wrong for back talking, I never understood why my friends had to be dragged into this. They were perfectly innocent, minding their business at home probably getting into trouble by their own parents.
