Sashiko Cotton Fabric Yardage
Fabric is sold by the quarter yard and cut as one piece. Example: Quantity 1 = 1/4 yard. Quantity 2 = 1/2 yard. Etc. ~~~ Sashiko is a form of functional embroidery, traditionally developed and used in Japan during the Edo period (1603 - 1868) and is still practiced today. It was often used to strengthen clothing to make it even more durable. The designs are printed onto the fabric with washable ink. So once you have completed the stitching, toss it in the washing machine, and the print will dissolve, leaving your beautiful lines of stitches. The sashiko samplers we have previously offered that you may be familiar with, are lighter in weight and smaller. We decided to add these fabrics to our collection as they are heavier in weight, perfect for cushions, curtains, lightweight jackets, bags, and patches.
