A fine 19th-century Persian box with a painted lid and intricate hardwood inlays. The rectangular top has a border inlaid in a repeating star pattern. It frames a wonderful painted image depicting men on horseback in a landscape with trees and hills. The sides are all inlaid with the same star decoration. The condition is very good with an old, original oxidized finish.
