Concerto for 23 Winds

Wind Ensemble Walter Hartley Considered by some to be one of the works of standard repertoire for the Wind Ensemble. Recorded by Frederick Fennell and the Eastman Wind Ensemble of Mercury 432754-2 CD. In four movements: Andante—Allegro non-troppo, Vivace, Lento and Allegro molto. Total playing time: 14:30. Scored (as with the Stravinsky work for 23 winds) for 3 Flutes, 3 Oboes, 3, B flat Clarinets, 3 Bassoons, 4 Horns, 3 Trumpets in B flat, 3 Trombones, and 1 Tuba. The 2nd and 3rd flutes alternate with Piccolo, 3rd Oboe alternates with English Horn, 3rd Clarinet alternates with Bass Clarinet and 3rd Bassoon alternate with Contra-Bassoon.
