Nkosilathi Jubane is wildly known for his incredible scrimshaw work. He developed the love for art at the age of seven, and believed he inherited the gift from his mother whose hobby was sketching at the age of seven. In 1992 he finished his higher education then went to Mzilikazi Art and Craft Center for art classes doing metal sculpture, fine art, ceramic sculpture and wood curving for nine months. In 1993 he had the opportunity of watching someone doing scrimshaw on black serpentine stone and his interest for this form of art began. He tried to scrimshaw on black serpentine stone for the first time and it turns out, his first work was a success. From there on he never stopped and now scrimshaws full-time.
