Original Scherenschnitte Heart & Hands Marie Gottshall (Pennsylvania)    Constancy & Joy Saying   This wonderful American folk art paper cutting features two hands in a heart -- with a painted border and painted wood frame.   The saying / motto hand written below the heart reads:    May constancy doubt repel    And joy be token where we dwell. The artist has signed it on the far right edge on the dark red outer part of the border. Marie Gottshall, of Wolmelsdorf, Pennsylvania, is an exceptional practitioner of traditional American art and crafts.   For those who collect 20 th century American folk art --- and especially paper cuttings --- this is an especially nice example.  The frame is approximately 7 1/8” square; it is about 5/8” deep.  On the front the frame is about 1 ¼” wide.  The “window” is about 4 ½” square. The art work is white, black, and very dark red.  The frame is “grained”; it has a beautiful painted finish.  From age and handling, there are some rubs / scratch
