Engineering Camp in a Box: Insulin Storage and Shipping Container
Up your students’ knowledge and skills with Engineering Camp in a Box. Filled to the brim with fun, easy-to-use resources, this box has everything students need to engage, create, and investigate. Insulin Storage and Shipping Container Design Challenge OverviewWith this fun-filled box, students design, construct, and test a container for storing and shipping insulin that keeps 6 or more vials of insulin between 10 degrees C and 35 degrees C for at least 24 hours, regardless of the outside temperature. The container must minimize thermal energy transfer to keep the insulin cool. Who It’s For:Middle Schoolers (6th—8th-grade students) will find substantial value in this design challenge and be equipped with all the necessary materials. Students will use the Argument-Driven Inquiry instructional model to explore minimizing resource use and waste, energy transfer, and transformation topics.
