Zambezi Crossing

The Zambezi is a seasonal river, flowing into the heart of the Kalahari and fanning out in shallow tributaries along the Delta in Botswana. I had been camping on a tiny island on that river when I saw the matriarch lead her family across. They moved without making the tiniest sound, vanishing as a mirage into the tall papyrus on the far bank.  This is, very much, a piece about family. This piece was originally created on paper instead of canvas.  To create the effect of the original artwork over a matte background, the giclee is reproduced with a brown textured border (as shown).  Border is printed and cannot be removed.  To request a custom order without the border, please use the contact form.
