Make sure to clean the surround as well, and inside the gas cap because the overlay will fold into the crevice. Peel off the gas cap overlay with the transfer tape and the guiding lines. Align the guide-lines about 1 cm away from the crevice that sits on the fender. The ^ should be at the top, sitting on the quarter panel, near or at the center of the entire overlay  Now, gauge if the entire overlay covers the gas cap, there should be some excess that hangs over the gas cap as this excess will be used to wrap around the edges. This will allow a more seamless look to the gas cap. Once the desired placement is met (there should be no original car paint showing) with the excess wrap hanging over edge. Lay or squeegee the gas cap overlay till all of the FLAT PORTION is laid. If using your fingers, start from one edge of the overlay working your way towards the other end in a up and down motion till all the bubbles are gone. Peel off the transfer tape and begin laying the excess around the corners. You may use your squeegee to push the excess around the edge and lay it down It is best to lay with your finger-nail, but if not, a squeegee will help too. Keep laying as you work your way counter-clock wise or clock-wise depending on how you see fit. If it is a bit hard to wrap over, use a heat gun or a blow dryer and heat up the edge slightly which will make the overlay more malleable to wrap.  Once all edges are laid and the face of the gas cap is flat, post-heat the overlay to a hot but not scalding temperature. This will activate the glue and ensure tackiness. If you have a blow dryer or heat gun, use it to get rid of any tiny bubbles and improve adhesion. If there are bubbles make sure you press firmly with your finger and swipe in a circular motion till it disappears near the closest edge. If you mess up, you can peel it off right away with no hassle.
