ETTRINGITE
Attractive display of rich yellow ettringite popping out of dark manganese-bearing matrix. Most of the crystals are pristine though we’ve adjusted the price to reflect a couple of damaged crystals. The contrast of color and the three-dimensional arrangement certainly make for an attention grabber. More info: Ettringite occurs within manganese-rich sedimentary deposits at the Wessels Mine. The crystallization sequence produced exceptional hexagonal prismatic crystals through low-temperature hydrothermal processes involving sulfate-rich solutions interacting with calcium-aluminum minerals in a carbonate host rock. The specimens exhibit remarkable development of colorless to yellow crystals reaching several centimeters in length, often forming distinctive radiating clusters.
