In this story, we get the opportunity to experience a crocodile’s hatching day from the angle of the mother and several of her offspring: Neilos, Croco, and more.We hear them communicating while still in their eggs and witness how each of the siblings develops at their own pace and to what lengths their mother will go to ensure they are all safe. The story was written in consultancy and cooperation with Dr. Marisa Tellez from the Crocodile Research Coalition, a Belize-based nonprofit established in January 2016 that seeks to preserve crocodiles and their environments throughout Central America and the Caribbean to ensure the long-term sustainability of biodiversity in the region.
