THE FINEST OF FRIENDS - ANSEL ADAMS & IMOGEN CUNNINGHAM

Ansel's good friend and fellow photographer, Imogen Cunningham, had visited Ansel on assignment for People magazine in 1975. She kept insisting that while she would photograph Ansel, he should also photograph her. Ansel was busy that day, and kept trying to graciously decline his "assignment" from Imo.  Finally, after endless needling, he said "Alan, go get the Hasselblad." He made some lovely images of her (better than hers of him, IMO), while I made several informal portraits of the two friends that day. This one has been in "hiding" in my negative files, but a recent deep dive uncovered this gem. To me, it captures the essence of both Ansel and Imogen and is how I like to remember them both.  Nikkormat 35mm, Tri-X Film General Edition and Sizing Information: Limited Edition Prints signed and numbered in an edition of 100. Each print is made personally by me, printed either on Ilford Multigrade Classic fiber paper and selenium toned or on Canson Platine paper using a Canon Pro-1000
