Soprano Octopus
There is no doubt that octopuses are alchemists! They have three hearts and skin that can change color up to 177 times an hour! MORE ON THE OCTOPUS DESIGN We dare you not to smile at this playful octopus, exuberantly waving his tentacles with his ukulele treasure at hand. Alkemi’s octopus was inspired by vases of the Minoan culture (2700 to 1450 BC). To Minoans, the octopus represented protection, wealth and food…. lavish expressions of their worship of the sea. These ancient exuberant forms, defined by movement and freedom of expression, are perfectly suited to this ukulele and are given a contemporary twist by the addition of “Steampunk” elements in the design. There are alchemical treasures floating around octopus waiting to be found: An “A” for Alkemi, the planets Neptune and Saturn, the element Water, a Star, and a Crown. A Musical Note, Keys and a Keyhole are also suspended in this Octopus’s garden. The design is laser etched on the soundboard and then hand tinted for contrast.
