Soprano Signature

Alkemi’s Signature rosette is inspired by a series of engravings by Robert Fludd (1574-1637) depicting the creation and evolution of the cosmos. Fludd is remembered as a prominent English physician, astrologer, mathematician, cosmologist, philosopher and alchemist. More on the Signature Rosette In an inverse of the 'big-bang' theory in which the cosmos emerges from a point, in the hermetic view of creation the Divine worked from the periphery to condense the material world out of spirit. In Fludd’s series we see the spiritual precursors of the four elements being condensed from the perimeter into the centre thus forming the material world. Many of Fludd’s striking illustrations were intended as a history of the 'macrocosm and microcosm', the ancient conception that saw common patterns reproduced across the cosmos, from the level of the universe (macrocosm) down to what we now refer to as the sub-atomic level (microcosm). According to Fludd, the music made by singers or instruments (musica instrumentis) represented but the shadow of the true and deeper internal music of the human body (musica humana) and the “music of the spheres” created by the movements of celestial bodies (musica mundana).
