Cross of Caravaca

This holy candle is burned to ask for specific and general blessings.  It is believed by many to bring miracles, especially when hope has been lost.  Oftentimes known as the True Cross or La Vera Cruz it represents the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and is seen as a powerful symbol of protection and good fortune.  The two horizontal bars symbolize the dual nature of Jesus...His divinity and His humanity.  Pilgrimage and devotion is associated with Caravaca de la Cruz, Spain where a relic of the True Cross is housed.  It is said to have appeared miraculously in 1231 A.D. during a time of Moorish rule resulting in conversion of the Moorish conqueror of Spain. For protection and good fortune, many devotees carry or wear the Cross of Caravaca amulet.
