Intro to Hand Planes

Sometimes big loud machines are just too big and too loud (and too expensive). Using hand planes to flatten your wood can save a huge amount of money, all while allowing you to gain a feel for your material and work almost anywhere. Join our friendly neighborhood shop tech and hand tool aficionado, Martin Hernandez, and learn how to use three of the most common types of hand planes to mill a board flat and square. All materials and supplies are included. Class size is limited to 8 students. This class is 4 hours long and does not include a lunch break, but students are welcome to bring snacks.
