14K GOLD AUSTRALIAN BOULDER OPAL RING- SZ 8Australian Boulder opals have always been one of my all-time favorite stones. Each piece is so unique and special. This particular Opal has a phenomenal blue base color that looks amazing in all lighting situations. It also has excellent play of color, with flashes of green and blues, and touches of red that cover the entire surface and can be seen from all angles. This opal was mined in Winton, Queensland, Australia. The images show this ring in full sun and shade.Australian Boulder opals are the second most valuable type of opal (following black opal). Boulder opals are easily distinguished by their layer of solid brown ironstone left on the back of the stone. Boulder opals are found only in the state of Queensland, Australia.This setting was first sculpted from scratch out of wax and then cast in recycled solid 14k gold. It is size US 8 and one of a kind!
