San Sebastián

Origin Story: San Sebastián is an isolated small town located in Lempira, Honduras known its steep mountains and high altitudes. This town has some of the highest altitude coffees growing in all of Honduras, with mountains reaching between 1,700 – 2,000 MASL. Due to the geographic isolation of this coffee and lack of modern infrastructure in the area, farmers in this area have no option but to process their coffee cherries using traditional methods and transport it to export via horseback.    Our farming team at Finca Terrerito first came across this incredible group of high-altitude farmers in late 2020 right after two hurricanes (Iota and Eta) had just ripped through the country of Honduras and caused detrimental damage to local infrastructure. The Finca T team was in the area providing donations and lending out equipment to help repair damages from the storms and flooding.
