Hand thrown and perfect for a few stems or blooms. Gretchen is in love with the quiet and small of the mundane. She makes functional objects that live in the slow of the everyday. A mug for your coffee, a bowl for your bananas, a small vase for your windowsill. These objects ask the user to push against the familiarity of the mindless daily action and instead be present, dwell, and find beauty. Through hand-production, contemplative making, and respect for design, Gretchen explores the intimacy and pace of quotidian through clay. Gretchen is based in Richmond, Virginia. In 2018, she received a BFA in Craft & Material Studies and a BFA in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her studio is located at Blue Dot Studios.
