Teresa Bright - Blue Skies (AGS-057)

Blue Skies brings to life the beloved Hawaiian singer's favorite jazz standards alongside tunes that seem expressly written for her sultry voice. This modern vocal jazz album finds Teresa Bright in a welcomed setting outside of her familiar Hawaiian music repertoire. Her original composition, “Sp-r-ing”, fits right at home in the collection.  Bright and her longtime musical partner, Kit Ebersbach, are accompanied by some of Honolulu's top players, including Sam Ahia, Sr (guitar), Dean Taba (bass), Noel Okimoto (drums, vibraphone), Rocky Holmes (horns, flute), and Casey Olsen (steel guitar).The twelve songs, recorded in 2005, have patiently awaited a public release for more than a decade. In December 2020, Bright received a Lifetime Achievement Award for the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts, prompting Ebersbach to pursue the idea of releasing these recordings 15 years after their creation.
