MO‘OLELO ‘Ulu was a canoe plant brought to Hawai‘i by early Polynesian navigators. Today many different varieties of ‘ulu can be found throughout the islands. As a food source, a single ‘ulu tree can produce over five hundred pounds of fruit in one season, which is why it was a staple food amongst ‘ōiwi.
