In short, the neck of a scooter deck is the most vital point, whereas the extrusion (deck plate) is the weakest. This means that if a welded scooter deck is broken, the entire unit needs to be replaced.  The TDI system solves this issue by having two distinct pieces, a neck, and a deck plate, allowing the deck plate to be changed.
