HUG - The Comforting Companion

Introducing HUG! HUG™ is an award-winning sensory product designed to be cuddled.  Designed for people living with dementia to help those with anxiety and loneliness, HUG has weighted limbs and a soft body that contains a simulated heartbeat and a music player that can be programmed to play a person’s favorite music.  Cuddle with HUG and its weighted limbs feel like it’s hugging back. HUG has been developed from university research by LAUGH design researchers, engineers and health professionals, working directly with people affected by dementia and their caregivers. In our evaluation study, we found that HUG improved the quality of life for 87% of the people who used HUG for six months. HUG has been shown to help reduce anxiety, encourage conversation and provide comfort… We’d like to think HUG helps a person feel a little more loved!  HUG is machine washable and has a rechargeable music player.  Everyone could use a cuddle from time to time!
