I live in the Sanctuary of Apollo in Delphi. Those Pythia before me go back beyond memory, and include the powerful Phemonoe and her successor Aristonike.   Our magnificent city is nestled on a slope of Mount Parnassus. Those who travel to see me make their way up The Sacred Way to purify themselves in the Castalian springs before making their way to the Temple of Apollo and to my sanctuary within. It is here, in the adyton, the inner shrine that I, Pythia, sit and utter the words of the Oracle.  Powerful leaders from Athens, Sparta, Macedonia, and Rome travel to consult with me. I advise on many issues of public and individual concern: cult matters, warfare, the relationships between existing city-states, and the foundation of new ones.
