Sun-Dried Silver Tips Raw Pu Er

For the first time ever, American Tea Room has sourced and packaged our own signature Pu Er cakes from Yunnan, China. The Sun Dried Silver Tips is a raw, or Sheng Pu Er, meaning the tea was simply sun-dried, rolled and bruised to promote oxidation, then steamed and packed into cake molds. It is comprised entirely of downy tea buds, which are richer in amino acids and polyphenols than the leaves, guaranteeing an extraordinary cup of tea. Unlike "ripened" Pu Er, the Sun Dried Silver Tips brews into a rich golden color and is more akin to a heavy white or green tea. The flavor has a light grassy bite, but immediately mellows into a sweetness with notes of young melon and fermented honey. The fermentation gives the brew an almost effervescent, tart quality, like a sparkling wine, and the finish is long and lingering. Pu Er cakes are ideal for aging and, like a good wine, get better and more complex with time. An excellent heirloom gift, Pu Er can be aged for months, years, and even decades
