Often confused with Violette de Bordeaux figs, "Beer’s Black" are of medium size and have that rich, sweet, buttery flavor. “Closed eye” when ripe; helps resist splitting and souring. An exceptional fig for drying or for preserves, but especially for fresh eating. Self-pollinating. Ripens in July. Produces an early crop in the spring (on the previous years' growth) and then another crop of figs in the fall. Remember to grow in full sun, well-drained soil and dry out between watering. Grows best in zones 7-10 and reaches a maturity of 2-3' so it's a nice dwarf fig tree.
