Blazing Star Liatris
Blazing Star is a native perennial that features tall spikes of vibrant purple flowers that create a dramatic focal point and add striking beauty to any garden throughout the summer. Provides nectar sources for monarchs and other butterflies, and attracts birds including Goldfinches, who love the seeds left on spent blooms, and hummingbirds. Liatris species are host plants for the flower moths Schinia gloriosa and Schinia sanguinea, both of which feed exclusively on the genus. Care Blazing Star (Liatris spicata) is a prairie-grown native plant with purple flowers. Plant in an area of your garden with full sun to encourage consistent flowering. Avoid planting in the shade and this will limit and can reduce flowering. Deadhead the spent flowers to encourage more new blooms throughout the growing season.It is an optimal plant desirable for full sun areas. Easy to grow. Generally performs better in moist soils than most other species of Liatris. Intolerant of wet soil in winter. Zones
