Audemars Piguet Dress Watch
There’s nothing more classic and appealing than a simple dress watch. Though to be fair, when we say “simple,” we mean “uncomplicated” — not unattractive! The 21st century saw a plethora of such watches hit the market. Generally available on leather straps and featuring two or three hands, these reliable wristwatches kept time during the classiest decades of the past 100 years. This particular dress watch from storied Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet is one such example. Dating to the late 1980s, it features a 33mm yellow gold case with 18mm lugs, a sapphire crystal, an unsigned crown, a polished bezel, a white enamel “Roman” dial with printed indices and a matching feuille handset, a date window at 3 o’clock, and a brown lizard strap with an AP-signed pin buckle. In good condition, this is a handsome timepiece from a maison that does everything well, from simple dress pieces like this to the most complicated calendar watches and robust divers. What better way to dress to the nines than with a stunning watch like this on your wrist?
