Krobo Bead #80

Recycled out of cast off bottles and windshield glass in Krobo Odumase, Ghana. These beautiful beads are individually cast in clay molds and fired in a wood burning kiln. After the beads have been removed from the mold and cooled, they are hand decorated and refired. The entire process can take up to four days for a complex pattern with multiple colors and designs.These beads have a long history in the region where they are worn for special occasions.Beads are collected and handed down through the generations.A lovely way to start your collection...   15mm x 9mm16 beads per strand
