Enchanted in the Snow

11x14 oil on canvas   This picturesque scene is saturated with orange, purple, pink, and blue in the summer. The yellow light of the sun only makes an appearance in the early summer mornings. This clean yellow light of the winter communes with the emackment of snow immersing this beach shack. The harbor changes into a Tiffany's blue and the familiar strip of dune present in all Ptown landscapes is a trip of yellow. The little cottage is illuminated by the reflected yellow light coming from the snow.  The scene feels enchanted like a fairy tale. I think of Howard Pyle's illustrations of King Arthur, Beatrice Potter, and the Brother's Grimm. This rather ordinary shack has stories. The winter light has revealed its magic and my own.
