Garfield Event Card - Splendid Genesis Birth Announcement

The Splendid Genesis card was designed by Richard Garfield (the designer of Magic: The Gathering) as a celebration of the birth of his first child, his daughter Terry. Richard distributed playing-card-sized copies of this card to family, friends, and select business colleagues. Many of these were distributed inside a more traditional birth announcement card, which is the item shown here for sale. Richard asked his friend, artist Monique Thirifay, to create the illustration for Splendid Genesis. Monique’s heart-warming illustration of a tiny child's hand clutching the finger of her father evokes the universal human experience of being a parent, making Splendid Genesis a coveted collectible for parents everywhere.
