Whip Sterling Silver Horse Head Cap & WWII Swagger Stick Custom Design Known Provenance
We were amazed when we learned of this whip and were able to acquire it. This vintage hunt whip was created by the late David Rhea, a Middle Tennessee artisan whose wife was a fox hunter. There is not another like it. The horse head cap is sterling silver, and the shaft, a WWII swagger stick, is constructed of ebony, and has five strong stainless steel or pewter bands. The entire whip is 24 3/4" long. The sterling horse head form cap is 1 3/4" from nose to mane and the same measurement from the ears to its base. It has a wonderful weight and balance and the entire whip, including the threading, stitching and leather are in good condition with some superficial leather cracking. What a statement piece to display in your home while not being used in the hunt field!
