Lemongrass is a perennial plant in the bluegrass or grass family. Lemongrass, shuttlebill, lemongrass, or cymbologon are all names for the same herbaceous plant. There are at least 55 types of lemongrass, mostly found in India and Sri Lanka, but also in Africa, China and America. The composition of this plant includes such chemical components as central and geraniol, they are contained in the essential oil of lemongrass. These components are natural antiseptics that have an anti-inflammatory effect and can stimulate epithelialization. Useful components of lemongrass are fatty acids: limonene, myrcene, methylheptenol. In addition, it contains a lot of vitamins (the entire spectrum of groups B and C), nicotinic acid, as well as trace elements necessary for the health of the body: zinc, iron, calcium, selenium, copper, sodium, phosphorus, potassium.
