Worm Heart Necklace

Most heart necklaces try to look perfect. Smooth, symmetrical, sweet little symbols of love. But love isn’t clean like that. The Worm Heart Necklace is a pile of earthworms twisted together until somehow they became a heart. This is how I see love. It's messy, persistent, unsettling, and kind of adorable. I sculpted this piece by hand in my NYC studio, shaping each worm until the whole writhing cluster turned into a heart. When cast into metal, this squirmy little knot becomes something strange and sentimental at the same time. Because love has two sides. There’s the sweet side. The one that wants to hold hands and stare into someone’s eyes dreamily. Then there’s the deep, earthy side. The part that crawls around in the dark and refuses to let go. The Heart Worm Necklace holds both.
