A Japanese wood and bronze elephant and tiger sculpture from the late Meiji period (1868-1912), the bull elephant with a pair of attaching tigers, one on its back and the other at its underbelly, raised on a large naturalistic formed root piece. The belly of the elephant is signed by the maker. 21 x 29 x 13 ½ in.
