Antique French Jeweled and Kiln-fired Bressan Enamel Easel Frame, c.1860s Carte-de-visite Photo Frame
A little work of art of a frame, carte-de-visite era, c.1860-70. Almost jewelry, really. The open work gild metal is also shaped in dimension, and it's mounted with a fabulous set of 12 cabochons of copper worked by the artisans of Bresse, France, kiln-fired enamel work layered in many layers, foil-backed so they shimmer and glow. Further, small semi-precious gems are set throughout. The only other one I know of like this is nearly double our price. Odds are it will return to France. You'll want to learn about the 19th century enamelist community of Bresse. I happen to also have a smaller frame worked in same atelier, same gem and enamels, also listing today., shown in our final group photos Treasures, both, and each sold separately. Very good to excellent condition, I see nothing at all to note by way of a flaw. Easel or hanging loop on back, all the gems and enamel plaques in place but 1 tiny jewel (noted with an x), but we had enough salvage ones to replace it so you'll never fin
