Antique French Rococo Sterling Silver Framed Cut Glass 8 3/4" Pie Plate, Platter
Gorgeous antique to vintage French rococo sterling silver framed cut glass 8 3/4" pie or cakes plate or platter, perfect as a champagne or wine bottle coaster, caviar under plate, or....! Thick, heavy glass with a wheel cut starburst pattern in the center and framed in rococo style French sterling silver, the icing on the cake so to speak :). Great as an under plate or coaster supporting an ice chip & caviar filled dish or perhaps the larger magnum sized bottle of wine or champagne! Use your imagination. The silver rim bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within the mark means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith mark is for Lagriffoul & Laval, Paris circa 1899 to early 1900s. Very good condition. There is a bit of vermeil or gold plating visible in the deeper recesses of the rocaille decoration so it may originally have been entirely vermeil but most missing or polished away over th
