Spectacular Antique c.1850 18k Gold Sewing Tools Set in Original 170 yr Old Ivory Etui, Case
Gold is over $3200 per ounce. Really, just perfect condition but for the lost bodkin (threading needle), this early Napoleon III sewing or embroidery set hasn't a flaw to report and seems as if it was never put to use. Each of the 4 implements are pristine, and all in fine heavy gauge 18k gold, each marked with the eagle's profile guarantee mark, used since 1838 for 18k solid gold. Thimble, needle case, stiletto and scissors are all the original matching patterned set and fit perfectly into the recesses carved to hold them. Scissors are sharp, this is a dainty set you might well wish to use for your own needlework. Measurements noted on the photos. Very good to excellent condition, with the single 'flaw' being a missing bodkin (ribbon or string-threading needle). There are no flaws otherwise, and the case is perfect, no chips, no hairlines from age/drying of the 170 year old carved ivory etui, either. No warp, the hinges and clasp all working perfectly, and the case holds tightly close
