Very RARE Antique French c.1740-1800 Era 31" Carved Wood Estanier Wall Cabinet or Table Vitrine, Shelf
Fine antique French 18th Century to earliest Napoleonic era 31" hand carved wood wall hanging or free standing Estanier, display vitrine or shelf unit with figural & foliate carvings, cabriole style front legs and wonderful condition! An attractive piece of furniture with that warm aged finish and all of the carved detail. The piece stands 24" without the narrow top spires and carved cornice (all of which come off easily for shipment as they're held to the top with dowels). The cornice has a wonderful shaping, carved in solid wood and has what appears to be a cross or perhaps crest at the center. The base is deeper and has the matching turned spires with the front accented by scrolling foliage and two unique mice figures sniffing at what is likely a piece of cheese, delightful. This has been my favorite miniature vitrine, and has hung in my other home for years as a hand towel and toiletries wall shelf (see final photo).
