2017 Domaine du Jaugaret Vin de France (Saint Julien)

We receive miniscule amounts of this wine each year. A one man herculean effort from this 1.5ha estate creates one of Bordeaux's best kept secret wines. For those concerned that the Bordeaux of old lore is dead, and that the tremendously dense, herb and tobacco infused, moderate alcohol (12.5% ABV) bottlings of the 1950s-1980s are a time past, Jauguret will revive your sense of wonder over a region that has been overlooked by many who have moved onto more boutique Burgundies and Rhône bottlings. These wines define CLASSIC and only 12 bottles came to Texas this year. Their scarcity cannot be overstated.
